Lauren Calder Psychologist

Lauren works with adults, couples, families and adolescents experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions and family conflict. She specialises in relational dynamics, helping individuals and couples understand recurring interpersonal patterns, navigate conflict, rebuild trust, strengthen emotional connection and develop healthier, more secure ways of relating to themselves and others.

Alongside private practice, Lauren has lectured in psychology at postgraduate level, supervised psychologists and psychology students, and consulted on psychological wellbeing and mental health. She has also developed and facilitated workshops on mindfulness, stress management, personality development and emotionally intelligent parenting.

Lauren has a longstanding interest in how people find meaning, adapt to life's challenges and live in alignment with their values. Her approach is integrative, drawing on psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches, Jungian psychology, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Schema Therapy and solution-focused therapy. Rather than applying a single model to every client, she tailors therapy to the individual, recognising that every person's history, relationships, personality and values are unique.

Whether prompted by relationship difficulties, anxiety, loss, burnout or a growing sense that life has lost its meaning, Lauren sees these experiences not simply as problems to be solved but as opportunities for greater self-understanding and lasting psychological growth. Her aim is not only to reduce symptoms but also to help clients build emotional resilience, strengthen their relationships, reconnect with what matters most to them, and move towards a more authentic and fulfilling way of living.

Alongside her clinical work, Lauren has developed resources addressing compassion fatigue and professional wellbeing within healthcare settings. She also consults on digital mental health innovation, working at the intersection of psychology, research, technology and healthcare to improve access to evidence-informed mental health support.

In her couples work, Lauren believes that while many couples begin therapy convinced the problem lies primarily with the other person, lasting change comes from understanding the relational patterns that both partners contribute to. As these patterns become clearer, couples are often able to move beyond blame, deepen their understanding of one another, and use their relationship as a catalyst for personal growth, stronger connection and lasting change.

"Therapy cannot remove difficulty in life,

but it can help you develop greater understanding, resilience and healthier ways of coping."
